Next morning

Chahak was sleeping peacefully after crying last . Until Kamla , the maid splash a bucket of water on chahak making her jolt awake .

" Baadh aa gayi !" Chahak wipe her face as she look at her surrounding then at kamla .

" Baadh nahi aayi hai . Subah hu gyi hai . utho aur jaake taiyaar hu jao ajj tumhara pehla din hai iss haveli mai . Chalo jaldi bohot Kaam hai . " Kamla said as she left from there .

Chahak wore her old frock that she wore when she first come here . She walk inside the haveli and saw rajeshwari sitting on sofa sipping tea .

Rajeshwari looked at her .

" Kamala le jao iss ladki ko apne saath aur kaam sikhao ." Rajeshwari ordered . Kamla quickly held chahak's arm and drag her in kitchen .

" Yeh le , sabjiyan dho" kamla handed her the vegetables . Chahak walk towards the washbasin and started to wash veggies .

" Kamla mausi . Tum bhi yahi rehti ho " chahak asked .

Kamla hummed without looking at her .

" Iss haveli aur kon kon rehta hai ?" Chahak asked again .

Kamla turn to look at her . " Koi bhi rahe usse tujhe kya . Jo kaam diya hai vo karo . Zada bolo mat ." Kamla said sharply before turning back to kneading the dough.

Chahak pouted as she wash spinach . Rudra entered in kitchen . " Kamla .humra dhoodh kaha hai ?"

" Ji rudra babu hum abhi leke aate hai . " Kamla left from there to get the milk . Rudra's eyes fall on chahak , a smirk formed on his lips .

" Aree wahh .. chhooti chuhiya . Akhir tumhe bhi tumhari aukaat yaad aa hi gyi. " Rudra taunted , crossing his arms as he walk towards her .

Chahak looked at him with frown ." Chuhiya ?. Kise chuhiya keh rahe ho . Hamara naam chahak hai . "

" Chahak or chuhiya mai antar kya hai ? Hu toh tum iss ghar ki naukrani hi na . " Rudra stopped a few steps away from her .

"Hum naukrani nahi hai . Hamari maa hume yaha chhod ke gayi hai kuch dino ke liye . Voh.. voh bas humse naraz hai . Voh hume lene zarur ayenge . " Chahak looked down at veggies .

Rudra scoffed . " Bhul jao ki tum yaha se kabhi bahar Jaa paogi. Yaha ek baar jo ata hai uska wapis mushkil hai , chhooti chuhiya ."

Chahak glare at him . " Hum chuhiya nahi hai . Hum yeh bulana band karo "

Rudra smirked again " tumhe jy lagta hai tum jo kaho gi voh hum Maan lenge . Kabhi nahi . Hum iss ghar ke malik ke bete hai . Tum apni zuban jitni kam chalao utna achha hai "

Before chahak could say anything Kamala returned with with glass of milk .

" Yeh lijiye rudra babu . " Kamla handed the glass of milk to rudra .

Rudra drink it in one go and left from there not before glancing at chahak one last time .

After sometime Ayaan entered in kitchen asking for milk . Kamla went take the milk . Ayaan looked at chahak .

" Hume maaf kar do . " Ayaan said . Chahak looked at him .

" Are .. tum kyu maafi mang rahe ho . Tumne toh hamari madad-" Ayaan shush her .

" Dheere bolo agar kisi ne sun liya toh tumhare sath sath hum bhi fas jayenge " Ayaan whisper.

" Thik hai . Hum dheere bolenge . Acha yeh btao iss ghar mai aur kon kon rehta hai .?" Chahak asked .

" Iss ghar hum , hamari maa aur papa , rudra bhai , unke maa aur papa aur hai unki ek behen bhi hai . Ek dadi ji bhi hai par voh apne kamre mai hi rehti hai ." Ayaan listed every member of the rathore family .

" Dadi ji kyu rehti hai apne kamare mai kyu rehti hai ? Voh toh iss ghar mai sabse baadi hai , unhe toh bahar aana chahiye . " Chahak suggested .

" Chahak tum samajhti nahi ho . Dadi ji shaant jagah pasand hai . " Ayaan said .

Chahak nodded " thik hai par kya hum unse mil sakte hai ?" Chahak asked .

Ayaan thought for a moment before nodded " zaroor . Chalo hamare sath " Ayaan started to walk . Chahak followed behind . They walk though the corridor .

" Yeh haveli kitni badi hai . Agar hum akele nikalte toh khi jate ." Chahak looked Around with fascination .

Ayaan chuckled . " Voh toh hai . Par agar tum hamare sath rahi toh kabhi rasta nahi bhulo gi "

" Tum jo kal keh rahe Thai .. iss-chool . Voh ky huta hai?" Chahak asked .

" School ..voh jagah hai jaha hum padhte hai . Jese ki agar Hume kuch likhn hu toh hum likh denge kyu ki hum school se sab Sikh kar atte hai " Ayaan explained .

Chahak nodded slowly in understanding . " Toh kya tum hume sikhao likhna .? Hum iss-chool nahi jate nahi humne uske baare mai pta hai . "

Ayaan looked at her . " Zaroor . Agar tum sikhna chaho toh sikha denge . "

Chahak smiled . " Shukriya tumhara "

" Lo hum pahuch gaye . " Ayaan said as they stood in front of the door of one room .

Ayaan knocked once . After getting permission they entered in room . A old age woman was sitting on chair reading a book .

" Dadi ma dekho hum kisi leke aye hai " Ayaan motioned towards chahak " Yeh hai chahak , hamari dost . "

" Namaste dadi ji " chahak greeted

Old woman named , kalyani .looked at them both with gentle eyes .

" Aao mere pas ao . Ayaan ko finally ek dost mil gya kitni ki baat hai " kalyani said motioned with her hands for them to come close.

Both stepped closer to kalyani .

" Aur beta kab tak ho yaha par?" Kalyani asked . Chahak shrugged her shoulder " pta nahi. Jab tak maayi bapu humko lene nahi aa jaate " chahak said .

Kalyani noticed the bandhua mark on chahak's wrist and understood everything . She look at chahak's innocent face .

" Dadi ma apko pta hai . Hum chahak ko padhna sikhayenge . " Ayaan announced .

Kalyani's smile frozen for a moment . Teaching a servant is not allowed in haveli .

" Ayaan beta .. agar tumhe sikhana hai chahak ko toh Zara sambhal ke kisi aur ko iss baare mai pta na chale . " Kalyani

Ayaan nodded . Chahak frown . " Kyu ? Agar kissi ko pta chal gya toh kya huga?" Chahak asked .

Kalyani smiled as she creases chahak's cheek " agar kisi ko pta chala toh vo tumhe kabhi padhne nahi denge . "

" Haan aur tumhe pta hai . Hamari maa bhi keh rahi thi ki tumse dur rahu . Par tum toh kitni achi ho , Hume tumse dosti karni hai " Ayaan said with smile .

" Fir ajj se hum dost " chahak forward her hand for handshake .

" Dadi ji aap bahar kyu nahi aati hai . ?" chahak asked .

" Beta main kya karungi bahar aa kar . " Kalyani said .

" Aree , dadi ji aapko bahar nikalna chahiye . Ese kamare mai rahengi toh bimar pad jayengi . " Chahak smiled .

" Thik hai . Main koshish karungi . ab tum dono jao . " Kalyani said .

Both Ayaan and chahak nodded and left from there . Kalyani stared at their retreating figure .

The went like this chahak went back in kitchen to work before anyone noticehrr absence .

At night Ayaan sneak out of his room and walk towards chahak's cage . Chahak was still awake friddling with dry haye when she saw Ayaan walking towards her .

" Chahak ..humne kaha thana tumhe padhna sikhayenge . Chahlo fir shuru karte hai . " Chahak's eyes lit up .

" Sachi ! " Chahak fully turned to him . Ayaan sit on small chair as he started to teach her alphabet and counting . Chahak listen carefully and repeated after him .

After two hours . Ayaan stretch his arms. " Ajj ke liye itna hi bohot hai . Kal mai fir aunga . "

" Thik hai . Raat bohot hi gayi hai tum bhi jaa ke soo jao " chahak yawned too .

Ayaan stood up and wave at her last time before walking away , going towards his room .

......

Next morning

Chahak is in kitchen washing rice . Rudra entered in kitchen and looked at chahak .

" Chhoti chuhiya ! Ithar aa " rudra called her . She looks at him before wiping her hands and walk towards him .

" Kya hua ? Aur humne kaha tha ki hamara naam chahak hai . " Chahak said .

" Ha ha . Zada zuban chalane ki zarurat nahi hai . Jao kaake dhoodh leke aao mere liya aur ha usme badam bhi dalna " rudra ordered .

Chahak turn to walk away when Ayaan entered in kitchen too . " Chahak hamare liye bhi badam wala dhoodh le ana " Ayaan said .

Chahak nodded as she walk towards the counter clim on stool . She put graited badam in their milk and clime down with two big glass of milk in her small hand . She carefully walk towards them .

Ayaan stepped forward to help her . He took one glass from her hand ." Thank you- ..uh .. dhanyawad " Ayaan said remembering that she still doesn't understand English .

Rudra took his glass from her hand too but didn't said anything. As he started to drink his milk . Chahak look up at rudra . " Kya dekh rahi ho ? Mere dhoodh par nazare bhi mat dalna " rudra said when he felt her gaze .

" Hume koi shaunk nahi hai apke dhoodh par nazar lagane ka " chahak said as she look away .

" Tum dhoodh nahi puti ho ?" Ayaan asked chahak

" Pite hai par bohot Kam . Hamare ghar mai ek ya do baar hi dhoodh ata hai . " Chahak said .

" Voh toh huga hi . Tum log ki aukat nahi hai Roz dhoodh kharidne ki " rudra mocked . Chahak glared at him .

" Kam se kam aap jaise toh nahi hai . Jo dusron ko nicha dikhate hai "

Rudra glared back . " Tumhari itni himmat ki tum humse zuban ladai gi ." Rudra stepped forward .

Ayaan stepped in front of chahak facing rudra . " Bhai vo abhi chhoti hai . Aap kyu gussa kar rahe hai " Ayaan tried to calm things down .

Rudra look at Ayaan pointing at chahak " Tumne dekha nahi yeh ladki mujhse kese baat kar rahi hai " rudra shifted his glare back to chahak .

" Bhai .. aap toh baade hai . Aape gussa acha nahi lagta . Kal ki ayi ladki par aap gussa kare bade papa kya kahenge " Ayaan said . Rudra closed his eyes taking deep breath before looking down at Ayaan .

" Thik hai . Iss ladki ko samjha Dena . Agar hamare papa bich Mai na ate toh hum dekh lete iss ladki ko " rudra muttered as he finish his milk and put the glass on counter with little force and Strom out of the kitchen .

Ayaan sighed and turned to chahak . " Chahak tum bhai ki baato ka bura mat manna . Vo dil ke bohot ache hai . Aur ho sake toh unse dur hi rehna . " Ayaan said . Chahak nodded .

" Thik hai vese bhi hum koi shauk nahi ki kisi se ladne ka . " Chahak said .

" Acha .. yeh lo mere dhoodh mai se tum adha pi lo . Dhoodh pine se takat ati hai . " Ayaan offered already pouring half milk in other glass .

" Aree . Par tum kya peoge? . Agar kissi ko pta chal gya toh ?" Chahak asked .

" Kissi ko pta nahi chalega . Pilo " Ayaan replied as he handed her the glass .

After drinking the milk . Ayaan leaves the kitchen to get ready for school . Chahak also resume to her work .
